A Dream Rooted in Family & Flavor

Sweet & Savory Catering began with a simple idea: food should feel personal. From a young age, Melissa knew cooking was her way of bringing people together. Alongside her husband Shawn—her high school sweetheart—she spent years working in catering, learning the craft and the are it takes to create memorable experiences. 

Eventually, they stopped dreaming and decided to build something of their own. 

After careful planning, Shawn and Melissa chose Indianapolis as their home and opened the first Sweet & Savory Café. It became the foundation for what would grow into a full-scale catering company—one rooted in hard work, adaptability, and community support. 

What started as a leap of faith quickly turned into a business embraced by the city they now proudly call home. 

A Family Business Grown Together

Sweet & Savory is truly a family affair. Daughters, Shelby and Georgia, grew up in the business and now play key leadership roles—Shelby as Director of Operations and part-owner, and Georgia as Accounts Manager. Together, they continue to evolve the company while staying grounded in the values it was built on.

Global travel influences the Sweet & Savory menu, blending bold international flavors with comforting Southern roots. From Brazil-inspired sauces to fresh ceviche and South American influences, each dish balances familiarity with something unexpected. 

At its core, Sweet & Savory exists to make gatherings easier, more meaningful, and more memorable. Shawn and Melissa believe great catering should reduce stress, save time, and connect people through thoughtful food and dependable service.

With 20 years in the business, Melissa has built a reputation for creating delicious food with heart, while supporting local farms and small businesses. When she’s not in the kitchen, Melissa loves traveling, exploring new places, and diving into interior design—always looking for fresh inspiration. Above all, she’s a proud mom of two daughters, and her family is at the center of everything she does.
Shawn Mudd

Shawn Mudd is the co-founder of Sweet and Savory, known for his innovative approach to both the culinary world and business. With a knack for creative problem-solving and a passion for pushing boundaries, Shawn plays a key role in shaping the direction of the company. Outside of the business, Shawn enjoys exploring new technologies, outdoor adventures, and spending time with his wife, Melissa, and their two daughters.

Shelby Wynne is the Director of Operations and co-owner of Sweet and Savory, where she plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth running of the business while staying true to the company’s values of quality and community. Growing up with the business, Shelby brings both passion and innovation to her work, helping the family’s vision thrive. Outside of the kitchen, she’s a dedicated registered nurse with a heart for helping others. When she’s not caring for patients or managing operations, Shelby loves spending time with her daughter, husband, and fur baby Beau!
Georgia Mudd

Georgia Mudd is the Accounts Manager at Sweet and Savory, where she meticulously manages the financial side of the business. Her attention to detail and thoughtful approach ensure that everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. Outside of work, Georgia enjoys traveling, discovering new places, and spending time with friends. She also has a passion for dancing and finds peace in it whenever she can. Georgia brings a calm, steady presence to the team, with a sharp focus on getting things done right.

Here, she works behind the scenes, ensuring an efficient and effective planning process for her clients. She enjoys creating a themed menu! When not at S&S, she loves to practice her culinary skills at home, and snuggle up with a good book and her family.

Trina Stupec brings over 20 years of experience in the event industry, specializing in events ranging from intimate gatherings to large-scale conferences. She excels in customer service, multitasking, and ensuring seamless execution, while maintaining strong client relationships and precise event records. When she’s not working, Trina enjoys spending time with her kids.

Outside of catering, Jade enjoys designing thoughtful small events for friends and family, giving new creative life to vintage pieces and spending time in the sun with her husband and pup.
